On Saturday January 26th, 2008, the Electric Vehicle Association of San Diego held on behalf of the San Diego Environmental Foundation, Electric Dragin' an electric-drive exclusive EVent.
On Sunday January 27th, 2008, due to inclement weather, the 2nd day has been postponed to later this year.
Fact Sheet:
1. This EVent is this Century's 1st International Exclusively Electric Drive Only EVent in the World including drag racing and e-autocross.
(Once upon a time there were more electrics than gassers, so there may have been races pre-dating this one.)
2. This is an opportunity to learn about, see 1st hand, cheer, and experience Electric-Drive. There will be e-cross racing, drag racing, an Electra-City Vendor booth area, and a Village Energy camp ground.
3. The latest electric drive technology and products will be available for close inspection and purchase.
4. Join us as we continue to electrify the NEDRA (National Electric Drag Racing Association) 2008 racing season with the next generation of record holders.
5. We will continue to have the largest array of Electric and hybrid vehicles EVer assembled.
6. Show-n-Shine EVent gives Electric Vehicle Owners yet another chance at Trophies and Prizes.

Electric Dragin' 2008 will be held at the Barona 1/8th Mile Drag Strip just outside San Diego. We will have competitors from across North America coming out to race. Below is all the info you need for the EVent. See you at the Drag strip!!!

Raffle:
Jim Husted of Hi Torque Electric has donated a Dragin' Green Motor to be raffled at the EVent.

" This was a motor that started out life as a 36 volt Crown forklift drive motor (one from a pair). It's a 6.7, 55ish lbs (maybe a measured weight, hehe) motor that was rated 36 volts OEM. Both end plates were swapped out with plates from a pump motor which are better suited for mounting and weight reduction.
I drilled and tapped new holes to set the brush advancement timing at 7.5 degrees for a CCWDE rotation.
I removed the old lift style shaft and installed one with a 7/8" X 2" 3/16" keyway for easy sprocket attachment.
I topped it all off with little Dragin Green pigment to cap it all up. I've got it setup to run at 48 to 72 volts for best performance.
It's always fun for me to take some old dragin scales and toss them together with some escence of Lightning and create something fun. Nothing to fancy,(or big), but enough there to get that lucky someone a motor for a cool little project.
